Personality profiles are a useful way of increasing self-awareness ad increasing awareness as a team. It can be a great way of improving understanding within a team and working out strategies to work better together.
MBTI
The Myers Briggs Type Inventory is based on Jungian psychology and works on four dimensions creating 16 different types. The four dimensions are:
- Extroversion ---------- Intraversion
- Sensing --------------- iNtuitive
- Thinking --------------- Feeling
- Judging ---------------- Perceiving
The inventory is paper and pencil and should be completed 'boots off', ie. how you prefer to be.
The benefits of MBTI included increased self-awareness as well as awareness of others. A group session may include completion of teh MBTI tool, individual interpretation, discussion of preferences, strengths and weaknesses around the dimensions as well as strategies to communicate and influence difference preferences effectively.
DiSC behavioural profiling
Once again based on four dimensions. This time the preferences are around behavioural styles and are called:
- Dominance
- Influence
- Steadiness
- Conscientiousness
Interpretation is done in three sections and again sessions with teams would include strengths and weaknesses of each preference, understanding of the individual profile and strategies around dealing with the behavioural preferences.
SDI (Strength Deployment Inventory)
This profile offers groups, teams, families and individuals a way to increase their interpersonal skills and to enhance their relationships. It focuses on behaviours, especially under conflict or pressured situations.

The results of this test provides a profile illustrating the way you prefer to think.
